Lighting Principles and Advantages of LED Rope Lights

LED rope lights are made trough welding LED lights with specific processing technique onto a copper wire or flexible stripe PCB (printed circuited board) and then connecting to the power supply so as to give out light. The rope lights get the name for their rope-like shape when shining. There are conventionally two kinds of LED rope lights-flexible LED rope lights and rigid LED rope lights. The former are applicable to irregular and narrow spaces. Due to the endurance of arbitrary inflection and winding which is especially true for neon string lights, they can be formed to various images in ads decoration. While the latter are convenient for processing and assembling as well as fixing.

Lighting Principle
The core of LED is a chip composed of a P-shaped semiconductor and an N-shaped one which release the spare power in the form of light when uniting together. Thus electricity energy is transformed into light energy. When the P-N tie is given a reverse voltage, the minority current carriers cannot be injected, and the light doesn't sparkle. Whereas when given a direct voltage, the current flows from the positive pole to the negative pole and the semiconducting crystal gives out various colors of light ranging from infrared rays to ultraviolet rays of which the intensity depends on the current.
Advantages
Flexibility: LED neon rope lights take extremely soft FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) as their substrate, so they can be curled like a wire and won't break upon arbitrary winding.
Pure color: high-brightness patch LED is adopted as light-emitting component, making the brightness of a white-light rope as high as 5,000 mcd, which provides the light rope with the merit of LED luminous element. So the light is pure, soft, and without dazzle, enabling the LED rope lights not only for decoration but also for illumination.
Low caloric value: since the luminous component is LED of which the power is very low, often from 0.04 to 0.08 watt, the heat emitted is not much. In this sense, the LED light rope can be used as decorative illumination in the fish bowl without producing much heat that elevates the water temperature and affects the ornamental fish growing.
Energy saving: the power of an LED light rope ranges from 4.8 watt to 7.2 watt only every meter, lower than conventional luminous lights and decorative lights several times in spite of the much better lighting effect.
Environmental protection: whatever the composing material of the LED strip lights is, LED or FPC, it's environmentally friendly, because they belong to recyclable materials and won't pollute or damage the environment though much used.
Long life: the normal service life of an LED light rope is from eighty thousand to a hundred thousand hours. Even working constantly for 24 hours a day, it can endure nearly ten years. Therefore, the life of LED rope lights is several times that of traditional lights.
Broad application: it is widely applied for luminous ornaments of buildings, steps, exhibition stands, bridges, and hotels, as well as fabrication and design of advertisement signboards, large animation, and calligraphy and paintings.
