The development of solar street lights


As the nation's continual readjustment of energy structure in recent years, our demand for energy continues to rise. As a classical renewable energy, solar enery receives more and more attentions for the characteristics of environmental protection, rare pollution and extensive applications. Road lighting projects, which is represented by solar street lamps, have been treated as "political carrer" and "environmental projects" by more and more local governments, which leads to a flurry of road-building. But the rapid expansion of solar energy has its disadvantages surely, as followed are the main problems of solar garden lights:
1. Poor quality of solar panels. It is certainly that we should not be too worried about the quality of solar panles produced by regular manufacturers, because they have had a relatively sound testing standard and testing equipments. But what should be mentioned here is that the power measurement of solar panles needs to use exclusive equipment, and government has no relevant detection measures about this critical technical specification, which makes the solar street lamps can't work normally for power shortage.

2. Light source. Among all the electric devices, light source costs the lowest, but has the highest failure rate. Among all solar lighting fixtures, flood lamps, energy saving lights, high voltage sodium lamps, and halogen light bulbs are relatively common cases. To avoid the power loss caused by inversion, most of them use DC input, and both the design and production are professional. At present, there are many manufacturers producing all kinds of light sources in the market, but only a few of them can ensure high quality. Some suppliers attract customers with low prices, but their products may fail to work in a short time, which caused big negative impact on the application of solar street lamps.
3. Control unit. Some controllers are not perfect enough to control and protect the charge and discharge process of storage battery, which may cause over-discharge and over-charge. Controllers should adopts SOC control method, which can ensure the SOC level below set value and protect the storage battery from over-discharging.
LED downlights have the characteristics of safe and energy conservation, environmental protection, easy installation, automatic control and easy maintenance. Currently it has been very popular in European countries, and it is still in the beginning stage in China.
